SUN-Design-Architecture |
|
An extraordinary and impressive exterior and interior design of the complex is based on the creative spirit of Gundolph Leitner, who together with Peter Raneburger and house builder Friedl Ganzer could realize his architectural visions just in the SUN Matrei. The design apartments combine the simplicity and linearity of the city with a cosy and home atmosphere of the East Tyrol mountain world. The natural colours of individual design apartments reflect yellow, green, red and white blooming spring flowers, lush meadows, colourful autumn forests and a snowy winter landscape in alpine seasons. You will be surprised and impressed by an interesting and unusual building of the design residential complex.

Architecture
The arrangement of the complex uses a topographical potential of the Sunny Slope. A new complex of buildings SUN II is located in an urban and topographically marked location on the outskirts of Matrei in East Tyrol. The shape, organization, appearance and orientation result from the specifics of the municipality. Sonnenhang ("Sunny Slope"), dating back to the 1970's, makes a marked end of the municipality on one side and a strong element within the traditional and homogeneous structure of small-scale architecture of Matrei. It responds to the current situation by a self-confident occupation of its position, while being integrated very sensitively in the surroundings. A narrow and very steep L-shaped plot on the slope, which has been considered almost unusable for construction until now, not only serves as a starting position, but also as a conceptual and structural stimulus. SUN II is shown as a four-storeyed terraced building complex, integrating the fan-shaped elevation lines of the plot, and thus following the height difference of 25 metres.

Usage and configuration
Above the basement, which is embedded in the curve of the road lying below, with offices, a lounge and spaces for cultural events, gradually appear three residential floors with a total of nine apartments, flexibly designed so that they can be combined into larger units, if necessary, in order to use them in terms of sale, lease or short-term use as a hostel, in accordance with individual requirements and specific user profiles.
SUN II offers various possibilities of use due to the different types of flats - no apartment looks like another one - and the offices are fully equipped for short and long-term use (conferences and seminars). Thanks to the terraced configuration of buildings it is possible to assign natural outdoor spaces to all levels of the apartments. All residential units have high quality outer zones with balconies or loggias. In the construction phase II the "urban concept" will be completed, which will terminate the development of "Sunny Slope". This includes connection of the turning site, the shell construction of which is already in place, and the designed building of "Wohnloft". A generous open area, created among the relevant building complexes, will act as a communication space and place for meetings. The whole facility is permeated with openness, communication areas and fluent light connecting units.
A sophisticated conceptual organizing principle of ground plans, developed in close cooperation with the investor, offers not only opportunities for multiple uses, but meets the current demands for the creation of image, individuality and architectural quality at the highest level.

Path and light system
Double access with the main entrance and access road at the foot of the slope and the northwest side entrance in the middle of the plot continue the existing network of roads and paths and pass to the internal access system. It goes beyond purely functional requirements: the path opens into a space, the square and skylights situated inside extend the sight, offer a high quality stay, connecting different zones for different purposes of use. The flow of movement inside the building via lifts, staircases, ramps, walkways, corridors, outdoor terraces and the spatial extensions transform a topographical peculiarity of the land, making it habitable and acceptable for residents. At the same time the internal system of roads is oriented according to a natural spread of light. During the day, an expressive play of a variety of lighting scenarios and illuminated spaces culminates depending on the position of the sun in the inside space.
Internal conception
The internal equipment and furniture are made from the architectural viewpoint and are interpreted as a homogeneous whole, in accordance with the requirement to combine the highest architectural standards with an added value for residents. All the furniture was specially designed and individually tailored to each flat - raw concrete corresponds to the in-buildings and furnishings in bright colours. The transition from outside to the interior is solved thematically, in terms of the facade with the adjacent outdoor rooms, loggias and balconies as spatial thresholds.
Facade and materials
The outer facade was covered with FunderMax , the mahogany optics of which resembles the local appearance of traditional Tyrolean wooden structures, but interprets them in a new way. In this way, the building enters a thrilling dialogue with its surroundings, without imposing on it.

Conclusion
The SUN II complex establishes an architecture, which includes logical language details and furniture as a natural part of its overall expression, allows maximum flexibility and at the same time proves to be a precisely formulated, strong and unmistakable architectural statement. Raw concrete corresponds to the in-buildings and furnishings in bright colours.
The transition from outside to the interior is solved thematically, in terms of the facade with the adjacent outdoor rooms, loggias and balconies as spatial thresholds.
